Proper sleep is essential for a healthy lifestyle. It helps you feel refreshed and energized, increases both physical and mental performance, boosts memory retention, and it can even prevent or treat certain health problems.
There are many benefits to getting a good night’s sleep. You’ll wake up feeling refreshed and more energetic. You’ll be less stressed and more productive. Studies have even shown that you reduce the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and some cancers by getting enough rest.
Everyone needs sleep, even kids! But all too often, adults are running around trying to juggle jobs, family life, and other commitments. The thing is, your body needs time to repair itself for the next day. If you don’t get enough sleep, your stress levels will go up and you’ll be more prone to illness.

What can you try?
You should try to go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day. If you need to use an alarm clock, it should be set for 10 minutes before you would like to wake up in order for your body to get into a rhythm. Aim to get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep every night. Try not to expose yourself to bright light in the hours before bedtime because this can make it harder for you to fall asleep.

Quality of Sleep
There are many things that can disturb our quality of sleep, but there are also some things you can do to help. It has been shown that sleeping on your left side is best for weight loss. Sleeping on your right side or back may worsen breathing problems. Make sure you set up your bed so it provides the most comfort and serenity. Keep electronics at a distance so they don’t interfere with your ability to relax before bedtime.
If you want to sleep better, there are a few things that you can do. One of them is to avoid stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol close to bedtime. Caffeine can stay in your system for up to 10 hours, so it’s best to have the last cup of coffee at least six hours before bed. Alcohol is even more damaging because it disrupts the quality of your sleep – you’ll spend more time in light sleep and less time in deep sleep. If you really want to maximize your rest, make sure that your bedroom is dark and cool with an ideal temperature of 60-67 degrees
